House Bill 254: The Healthy Kids Bill

House Bill 254 was introduced to the house by State Representitives Jon Petersen of Delaware and Fred Strahorn of Dayton in June of 2007. If passed this new bill will help fight childhood obesity by increasing nutrional value and physical fitness while decreasing the amount of junk food taken in in Ohio Public Schools. Lawmakers hope to create a healthier enviroment in the schools, where kids spend most of their days, since Ohio has one of the largest rates of obestiy in high school students. With this all in mind, lawmakers plan to address the quality of the nutrion in Ohio schools while expanding the USDA meal programs and defing nutritional standards in snacks in beverages state-wide.
My question for all of you is do you think it is alright to regulate what food stuents take in during their school day? Also, what happens when the children go home? Won't they just eat junk food there or will the healty practices carry on through the day?
Comment me and tell me what you think and visti the article on Ohio Action for Healthy Kids.

I think this article is very informational to all Ohio students. Ohio does have an obestiy problem and it is good for us as high school students to see that the highest percent of obesit students are in high school. This was a great article to choose!! =)
